Events

We have a wide variety of events that cover all aspects of natural history. These include winter lectures, field trips, and courses. Please contact the relevant organiser for more information.

We also run ad hoc "taster" events where experienced and knowledgeable members give tuition to people who would like to know more about the wildlife in their own locality. Email for details

Field Meetings 2017. All Tuesdays start at 10.30. Finish mid afternoon.
Please encourage others to come, including non-members, and share transport if you can. It saves fuel and needs less parking space.

Things to take:- Lunch, stout footwear, waterproofs, sun hat, binoculars, field guides, camera, magnifying glass/hand lens, fine weather and a biscuit for Nell.

The sites are quite varied, but apart from some being a bit hilly all should be easy walking. We intend to do a recce about a week before to see what is there and where it is.

Please email Roger roger-patterson@btconnect.com if you will be attending. We try to start on time, but if you are held up we will wait a few minutes for you, but we can only do that if we know you are coming.
Any problems on the day phone 07976 306 492, otherwise 01403 790 637.

Well behaved dogs welcome, but may need to be on lead.

Special Events - Throughout the summer we intend to run several events where the general public will have some involvement. They will be posted on this website and advertised locally.

Evening Walks
The Summer evening walks usually start at 7.00 (but please check time) and are fairly local to Horsham. They will normally last about 2 - 2½ hours and will not be more than 3 miles - often less if there is lots to see. Sometimes parking may be limited so please try to share transport. When we have specified that dogs are allowed, they should be well behaved and should be kept on leads if likely to disturb wildlife or other members.

For more information please email Josie Allen on josephinecallen@btinternet.com

Birds Field Trips (S.O.S. Outings)
HNHS have an agreement with Sussex Ornithological Society where they welcome our members on their Field Trips. Only those in our area are listed. For joining instructions and a full S.O.S. listing please click on the button on the Related Links page.
For enquiries please call Oliver Farley on 01403 241 458
